"Hospital guards are being wired up with RoboCop-style video cameras to crack down on an epidemic of violence.
The shoulder-mounted devices allow them to record yobs and drunks who intimidate and attack NHS staff.
The compact clip-on cameras may be introduced nationwide to counter the worrying surge in violence and abuse that plagues hospitals, particularly accident and emergency departments.

Trials of the kit in several hospitals have been very successful with the number of incidents cut by almost HALF.

There were 86 cases of violence or threats against staff in the 53 days before the cameras were introduced on January 31. The figure since the scheme started has dropped to 49.

The cameras have also been tried out at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Worcester Royal."
